Sannitica Arivi Primitivo 2024
From the picturesque coastal hills of Puglia, where the Adriatic breezes meet the warmth of the southern Italian sun, comes this beautifully crafted organic Primitivo. The region’s limestone-rich soils and ideal climate coax the very best from this ancient variety, known around the world as Zinfandel but deeply rooted here in its native land. “Primitivo” derives from the Latin for “early ripening,” and true to its name, these grapes are among the first to be picked in late summer, ensuring an opulent fruit profile with vibrant natural sweetness.
Harvested entirely by hand, each cluster is carefully selected to ensure only the highest quality fruit makes its way into the cellar. A gentle maceration of around ten days allows for a graceful extraction of colour, aroma, and supple tannins before fermentation in stainless steel tanks. This preserves the wine’s purity and aromatic complexity, while a touch of malolactic fermentation softens the texture and enhances its inviting warmth. In the glass, it reveals an intense ruby hue and an aromatic bouquet layered with floral whispers and ripe, dark berry notes.
On the palate, this Primitivo is full-bodied and structured, offering plush blackberry and plum flavours alongside delicate hints of spice. A velvety texture carries through to a long, warming finish, making it a perfect partner for chargrilled red meats, hearty game dishes, or aged cheeses. More than just a wine, it is an expression of Puglia’s soul—passionate, generous, and unforgettable.
