Fuji Single Malt Japanese Whisky 46% 700ml

Fuji Single Malt
A Whispered Revelation from the Foot of the Sacred Peak

Distilled and matured entirely on-site at the Mt. Fuji Distillery in Shizuoka Prefecture, this expression is crafted from 100% malted barley, aged in a combination of American white oak, ex-bourbon, and beer casks - an unexpected but clever inclusion that lends a delicate, yeasty roundness and soft sweetness to the whisky's frame.

Unlike many modern Japanese malts chasing high impact or peat-forward bravado, Fuji's single malt is light-handed, ethereal, and deeply textural - more silk painting than oil portrait.

The nose is poised and expressive. White peach, pear nectar, and lemon chiffon mingle with vanilla pod, fresh brioche, and a touch of almond blossom. There's a soft grain warmth - almost creamy - but laced with high floral tones and a kiss of cereal sweetness. It's a scent that feels like walking through a bakery just as the doors open, steam still curling from the bread.

On the palate, it's elegant but layered. Custard tart, grilled Fuji apple, and malted milk biscuit glide in first, followed by more structured notes of oak spice, ginger tea, and white pepper. The mouthfeel is beautifully balanced - not heavy, but velvety, with just enough grip to give each flavour its stage time.

There's even a faint touch of white chocolate, pine, and yuzu zest, showing a complex mid-palate evolution. The beer cask influence is subtle, lending a soft yeasty body - like warm baguette or wheat beer foam - rather than any overt hops.

The finish is long, calming, and clean - sandalwood, barley sugar, and a final echo of green tea and citrus oil, leaving you with the impression not of flavour, but of feeling.

A Malt of Quiet Complexity
This is a whisky that doesn't chase headlines. It rewards reflection, not reaction. While others may lean on age statements or rare cask acrobatics, Fuji's Single Malt offers something harder to define: balance, texture, and the rare quality of composure.

For fans of Hakushu 12, Glen Grant 15, or even the gentler side of Bruichladdich, this is a whisky that will feel both fresh and familiar - soft-spoken, but unforgettable.

Final Thought
Fuji Single Malt is a whisky of grace. Of stillness. Of knowing exactly when to speak and when to remain silent. It is the distilled character of the land it comes from - clear mountain water, calm skies, and craft without ego.

It's not just a single malt.
It's Mt. Fuji in liquid form - serene, self-assured, and beautifully composed.
