Dexter Black Label Pinot Noir 2024
Tod and Debbie Dexter planted their vineyard in Merricks, Mornington Peninsular in 1987. After a jaunt to Burgundy in 2000, Tod decided he wanted something more. After helping establish the formidable reputation of Stonier wines with Brian Stonier, and a time with Mornington icon Yabby Lake, at the age of 50, his own project, Dexter wines, came to be.
An exercise in patience and precision. Produced only when the growing season delivers perfectly balanced conditions, the Black Label Pinot Noir captures the soul of the Dexter vineyard’s oldest vines. Inspired by Burgundy’s great domaines, Tod employs whole-bunch fermentation to amplify layers of spice, forest floor, and structure — while remaining unmistakably true to Dexter’s site. Each release is limited to just 2–4 barrels, ensuring absolute focus on quality and individuality. To date, only four vintages have been deemed worthy of wearing the Black Label — a testament to its rarity and the strict selection process behind it.
