Batanga Reposado Tequila 40% 750ml
Batanga Reposado: A Straight-Talking Classic with Jalisco Roots
Batanga Reposado is what happens when tradition doesn't shout-it just shows up, does the job right, and leaves you thinking, "Damn, that was exactly what I needed."
Made at NOM 1137, Casa Orendain, one of Tequila Valley's most historic distilleries, Batanga keeps things traditional: 100% blue Weber agave, slow-cooked in masonry ovens, crushed with roller mills, and naturally fermented with fibres. No industrial tricks. No celebrity fingerprints. Just agave, time, and honest craftsmanship.
The reposado rests in ex-bourbon barrels just long enough-typically four to six months-to take on a golden hue and soften the sharper edges of the blanco without masking the plant. And the result? A balanced, clean spirit that stays true to the agave, with just enough oak to add depth.
On the nose, expect a gentle blend of roasted agave, light vanilla, toasted oak, and soft citrus peel. It's inviting, not overbuilt.
On the palate, it's approachable but not dull. You get sweet cooked agave, honey, a touch of pepper, and oak spice, with a slightly oily texture that gives it presence. The barrel influence is subtle-more structure than sweetness. The finish is clean and dry, with lingering pepper and a touch of bitter orange.
This is a no-nonsense reposado that performs beautifully neat, but really shines in cocktails-especially where you want the wood to play nice with fresh citrus or spice. It's built for a proper Tommy's Margarita or a reposado Old Fashioned.
This isn't hype tequila. It's honest, affordable, and quietly excellent. If you're into additive-free Valley-style tequila that doesn't try too hard, Batanga Reposado is a rock-solid bottle to keep in your rotation.
