Apsley Gorge Pinot Noir 2023
Tasmania's Apsley Gorge is a world apart. The location is unique, the vineyard snuggled as it is under the Douglas Apsley National Park at the northern end of the East Coast. It is a cool location, extending the ripening season and making it among the last to pick in the state. Brian Franklin has honed his experience in both hemispheres - he produces wine in both France and Tasmania.
Wafts of game and earth, in typical Apsley G style, which give way to brambly fruit, white pepper and violets. The fruit is powerful but precise and focused. Richly textured in the mouth with ripe fruit, dark chocolate, slate and a fine, chalky structural line. Savoury and dry on the finish.
